Roots of Reading is an extraordinarily useful approach to teaching reading competency efficiently. Developed by Crystal Perrier under guidance of A+ Tutoring Service, LTD., this delightful no-nonsense approach to sound/letter relationships gives students the skills to read fluently in 24 oneonone tutoring hours or in a 12 week classroom block using 90 minutes per day for reading. Roots of Reading is designed to meet the needs of regular classroom teachers, as well as ELL, ESL, and other professionals concerned with literacy requirements and expectations. Roots of Reading is a comprehensive phonics program of 24 lessons. The 97 page student text is accompanied by a 78 page teacher's guide offering complete and detailed instructions in giving students the basic understanding of English sound/letter relationships as established by Orton and Gillingham. This method teaches in such a way that the student has a firm understanding so the he/she may read, write, spell, and comprehend effectively and efficiently. It is constructed and taught in such a way that the student may apply the skills to a variety of classroom environments. Often elementary students move frequently. Roots of Reading is designed to provide a complete set of reading skills applicable to all reading classroom situations and variables. Roots of Reading was commissioned because Crystal Perrier has demonstrated extraordinary success in reading improvement and ability over the past 11 years. Her tutored students flourish in their regular classroom setting and excel in reading, writing, and spelling. Crystal has also demonstrated the success of her program with home-schooled students. We are proud to make this method available to you. It can be used in late 1st grade as a tool for fluent reading. It may be used in ELL and ESL classrooms from the very beginning to establish competency in speaking and reading English. Roots of Reading is also extremely helpful for remediation in Title I classrooms and other L.D. situations. At our tutoring service we use it for remediation through junior high school years. Roots of Reading is ideal for use in schools where parents and teachers may not have the resources to afford glossy, expensive programs. Roots of Reading offers an instructional game, easily constructed from at-hand materials and easily played at home with parents, siblings, and friends. The teacher's guide is very thorough and contains appendices which aid the teacher/tutor/parent to present the concepts to the student in a respectful, responsible, resourceful way. Teacher/Tutor/Parent note: Training seminars are available. For further details concerning price, minimum orders, seminars, or presentations, please call and ask for Bonnie. |
